Wedding Poet
A bespoke poem, written and performed at your ceremony or reception, will be an enchanting composition that impresses everyone, encouraging a shared sense of elation.
Pete offers a unique service tailored to your special day. After a conversation with the bride, the groom, bride’s mother, the best man or any designated person he will compose a personalised poem to perform at the service, ceremony or reception.
The poem can be illustrated and printed on the service sheet or be part of the table decorations at the reception.
Pete will even offer his skills at the reception to write personal, illustrated poems for the guests. This has proved to be highly engaging and very popular!
More details can be seen on the dedicated Pete the Poet – Weddings website.
Why have a poet at your wedding?
Having a wedding poet can add a unique touch to a couple’s special day. A well-written and heartfelt poem is a beautiful way to express the couple’s love for each other, and will be a memorable addition to the wedding ceremony or reception.
Pete writes and recites original poetry that is both heartfelt and entertaining. He will take the time to get to know the couple and their relationship, so that their poems are tailored to the couple and reflect their unique love story. With a captivating stage presence, Pete will engage and inspire the guests, making the event truly special.
Mingling with guests
Having a wedding poet mingling among the guests at a wedding reception is a great way to add extra creativity and engagement to the event. Pete will interact with the guests and write personalized poems on the spot, based on their experiences and stories. This will create a fun and interactive atmosphere at the reception, and will also provide the guests with a unique and memorable keepsake. Additionally, Pete’s presence can help to break the ice and encourage guests to mingle, facilitating connections between the guests.
Children at the wedding reception
As a teacher with over 40 years’ experience working with children of all ages, there are several ways Pete can entertain children during a wedding reception:
- Creating a special section just for kids: setting up a separate area for children with activities incorporating poetry and storytelling, giving them a place to play while the adults enjoy the reception.
- Pete can entertain children by telling them stories or poems that are appropriate for their age group. This can be a fun and engaging way to keep them entertained.
- Involve the children in the reception: Pete will include the children in a group poem or story. This can be a great way to involve them in the celebration. He brings a variety of wonderful costumes for the children to wear.
Pete can provide a mix of activities involving the children in the celebration, so they can be kept happy and entertained during the wedding reception.

Sophie and Ronan
Sophie and Ronan became friends one crazy night
In a Manchester bar as students danced –
a pulsating sight,
They spoke of computers and happy feet
They met for lunch, they laughed in the street,
When romance arrived, they both felt blessed
In a Cornish bay they said, “Let’s live in the west!”
They explored golden lands
As they held each other’s hands,
Then one day by a beautiful magical sea
Ronan said to Sophie, “Will you marry me?”
Sophie shouted “Yes!” and they danced together
They knew their love would last for ever,
“Beam me up” Ronan said, “this is life as we know it”
They love each other to the moon and back,
and with these vows they’ll show it
They laugh, they cook and holiday in Greece
Adventures and discoveries
for these two will never cease,
They dream of a VW campervan
They are each other’s biggest fan,
Let us all pledge our collective support on this special day
And promise to stay close and never drift away,
We celebrate the special bond of marriage
and the joy it will bring,
We combine around this love, sealed with sacred rings,
If, by chance they hit a rocky road
All present will, without question, share the load,
So, raise a glass everyone here
Celebrate these two, shout “Three cheers!”
Let’s declare ourselves as a congregation delighted
With the happy couple, Ronan and Sophie,
a couple united!
